Amelanchier x grandiflora ‘Autumn Brilliance’
A named cultivar ofĀ apple serviceberry, this plant is selected for the explosion of fall color that vibrates off the leaves each autumn. Grow this beauty as a graceful and petite single tree – it does not produce suckers the way most Amelanchier genus members do. In the spring, the pink buds open to a mass of large white flowers. Then the new bronze-purple leaves appear followed in July by large red berries favored by birds and people. In the autumn, the then-green leaves turn brilliant variations of orange-red.
These are very winterĀ hardy plants.Ā Autumn BrillianceĀ tolerates a variety of soils, but prefers neutral or slightly acid pH.Ā It isĀ self fertile and long- lived.
